Introduction & History of the Organization

The N.W.F.P Textbook Board

The foundation of NWFP textbook Board was held on under the Ordinance 1971 AD No. 1, of NWFP. Before the 1961 AD there was not any textbook board or the other institute like this. The private publisher was done the operation, publishing and distribution of textbooks. The private publishers were preparing different books and were submitting to education department. A few persons of the education department were permitting those books.

The corruption was going on gradually, by this process. The destabilize and rough books ware available in the markets. And some time the textbooks were not available. The people were starting to complaint the textbook board on these reasons. The Govt. arranged a committee for the survey of public complaint and for the factor of salvation in the start of 1961 ad at the heading of Lieutenant General Nasir Ali Khan. The committee gave a report to the Govt. after the survey of the all matters in 1962 AD in which it was recommended that to held on the board of textbook. The textbook held in 1962 AD.

The Textbook Board was held as an Autonomous body, it means that the Govt. will not give any grant to it. Textbook Board will spend its expenditures from the realty of books. From this decision the two textbook boards were held, one in East Pakistan, and other in West Pakistan.

The book board in West Pakistan was called West Pakistan text board. Its head office was in Lahore. The west book board, working from 1962 AD to 1971 AD. When one unit was destroyed due to East Pakistan and the four provinces were reinstated, then the Textbook Board was converted into four Textbook Boards of four provinces.


 
Background of NWFP Textbook Board

  1. The country had no Textbook Board after independence till 1962.

2.      The Textbooks development, printing and distribution were in the hands of private publisher who were the sole players in the game.

3.      The manuscript developed by the Private publisher was usually sent to the committee of the Federal Department for approval. This system led to a number of complaints, the most noted are like non availabilities of Textbooks substandard prints are to at all the misappropriation and cooperation as the part of the stallholders.

4.      To overcome all these discrepancies, the Govt. constructed a commission under General Nasir khan which after going though the knitty gritting of the experts. System proposed that a commence and control committee like a Textbook Board and he the making remedy to the empire.
5.      On the recommendation of the Govt. set up the Textbook Board to look after the Textbooks affairs.
                                    
   Production of Textbooks

1.Textbooks Board is responsible for development, printing and dissemination of Textbooks from Class 1-12 entire province.

2.Textbook Board develops Textbooks according to the Curriculum design by Ministry of Education (Curriculum Wing), Islamabad.

3.The Board’s Subject Specialists have a thievery analysis of the Curriculum received from the Ministry of Education (Curriculum Wing). After this a hurt is launched to like professionals for writing/development of Textbooks under prescribed rules set v set by the Curriculum Wing.

4.Different alignments are given to the panel of writer, and then selected according to their respective field of expertise. With the consent of the Board’s experts.

5.A final draft of the manuscript then prepared by the authors/writers and then submitted to the Board for review, editing and designing.

6.The manuscript then re-final and then submitted to the Ministry of Education (Curriculum Wing), for review approval.

7.Ministry of Education Curriculum Wing), reviews the manuscripts there a high level National Committee of experts comprises education, advisor, Textbook Board representative and working teacher.

8.The Board incorporates the Committee proposal and suggestion etc in the manuscripts and the manuscripts is again submitted to the Ministry of Education (Curriculum Wing), for NOC.

9.After a green signal from the Ministry of Education (Curriculum Wing), the concerned Subject Specialist issue declaration for the printing of the Textbooks.
