Chapter-5
Verification of hypothesis
We have proposed three hypothesis for the purpose of this research project. These hypothesis were;
i. Poverty on the part of parent causes child labour.
ii. Illiteracy on the part of parent results in child labour.
iii. Absence of earning members leads towards child labour.
So for the purpose of rejection and acceptance of the foregoing hypothesis. We have made different tabulation and draw their required results. Thus on the basis of these tabulation results, we are able to reject or accept, the proposed hypothesis for the respective research project.
On the basis of following tables we have accepted our proposed hypothesis for the research project.
1. Hypothesis: Poverty on the part of parent causes child labour
Accepted, on the basis of 1.1-A table, that is given below.
Table 1.1-A
Nuclear (poor) | % | Joint (poor) | % | Extended (poor) | % | Poor as whole | % |
10 | 33% | 3 | 10% | 2 | 6.6% | 15 | 50% |
Why accepted?
Reason
This first hypothesis is accepted on the basis of the results of a table 1.1-A. which shows that most of the children working as labour belong to poor families which means that their parents are poor.
2. Hypothesis àIlliteracy on the part of parent results in child labour
Accepted on the basis of table 1.4-D, that is given below
Table 1.4-D
Nature of Parents Education | Response | Percentage (%) |
Educated | 4 | 13.3% |
Uneducated | 11 | 36.6% |
Why accepted?
Reason
Our second hypothesis is accepted on the basis of the results of a table 1.4-D which shows that most of the children working in mechanical workshops as labour, their’s parents are illiterate, that fact help us to accept our proposed hypothesis.
3. Hypothesis: Absence of earning members leads toward child labour
Accepted on the basis of table 1.11-K, that is given below:
Table 1.11-k
Yes (Absence of earning member) | % | No (Not due to Absence of earning member) | % |
12 | 40% | 3 | 10% |
Why accepted?
Reason
The 3rd hypothesis accepted on the basis of the results of a table 1.11-k. which indicates that most of children working in mechanical workshops, they are working as labour, due to the absence of earning members in their’s families, which leads them towards child labour.
