MAJOR PRODUCT DIFFERENCES

We have differentiated pentane form its competitors through marketing mix activities.

MARKETING MIX
Marketing Mix comprises of the 4 P’s i.e. Product, Price, Place also known as Physical distribution and Promotion. These four elements must satisfy the need of target market and at the same time to achieve the organization’s marketing objectives.

PRODUCT
A product may be a good, service, person, idea and place. A product is a set of tangible and intangible attributes, which may include packaging, color,  price, quality and the seller’s services and reputation.

BRAND
A brand is a name or mark intended to identify the product of one seller or group of sellers & differentiate the product form competing products. The brand PANTENE is the name of shampoo. It is national brand (brand which are given by the local manufacturers).

Packaging of Pantene
There are different Packaging strategies:
v    Packaging the product line.
v    Multiple Packaging.
v    Changing the Packaging.
PANTENE is the product of P&G that following the strategy "changing the package" which means to change the package from time to time due to some poor feature. In case of PANTENE P&G is following this strategy, i.e. they change packaging as time passes.

Labeling of Pantene
There are three basic kinds of labels:
v    Brand label.
v    Descriptive label.
v    Grade label.
PANTENE carries the descriptive label. It is a label, which in addition to brand carries some other information about the product i.e. weight, uses, performance, about producer and other features of the product. For example PANTENE is useful to make your hair shiny, healthy and beautiful etc.
Quality
The quality of a product may be defined that “the totality of features and characteristics of a product or service that bear on its ability to satisfied stated or implied needs.”
Product & Gamble also concentrates on the quality of its products. It maintains the quality of all its products. In case of PANTENE it has positioned itself by saying that PANTENE is available in different varieties i.e., to protect your hair form dandruff and make your hair healthy and shiny etc.
Color and Design
In today’s world a product’s color and design plays a vital role to attract customers. Sometimes a customer purchases a product due to good design and attractive color. Procter & Gamble is also aware of this factor so they designed and colored their products attractively. In case of PANTENE they use different colors (Green, Blue, Black, Silver, and Gold) for their packaging and every color is used for different quality, and also for attraction they use different designs of bottles and labels.
