Before I get into the thick of the things, I would like to add a few heartfelt words for the people who were part of this work in numerous ways….people who gave me unending support right from the beginning.

To Mr. Faruh Khan., I owe more than what I can mention….her inspiring guidance, remarkable suggestions, constant encouragement, keen interest, constructive criticism, and friendly discussion enabled me to complete this report efficiently. Without her support and proper guidance, it would be almost impossible to accomplish this task successfully.

Moreover it would have been impossible to accomplish the task without the help of the staff of HN TPO.

 

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

United bank limited was incorporated in Pakistan and is engaged in commercial banking and related services. It is serving the nation as one of the leading Banks in Pakistan. The bank is listed on all the stock exchanges in Pakistan, in accordance with the directives of the federal government regarding the shifting of the banking system to Islamic modes; the State Bank of Pakistan has issued various circulars from time to time. Muslim commercial bank provided quality financial services in the country with profitability and responsibility. UBL is Pakistan largest private sectors commercial bank.

I was honored to work in Main Branch, Rustam (0304), where I found the staff very cooperative in many respects. I did my internship in all the departments of the branch I worked in the Account Opening Section in First week, under the supervision of Branch Manager Saleem Khan, where I learned the methodology of opening of accounts which is said to be as a contractual relationship between bank and customer, and about precautionary measures that are relevant to opening of an account. Moreover I got the idea that how these accounts are maintained. What should be prerequisites of opening of account etc?

Then for the next two weeks I worked in the remittances department under the guidance of Mr. Zaman Gul, where I got the opportunity to get familiar with different kinds of remittances, the bank deal in which are the Demand draft, Telegraph Transfer, Mail Transfer, Issuance of Rupees Travelers cheques, Posting of vouchers. I was given certain projects which I accomplished successfully.

Then I went to the Clearing Department where I worked for one and a half week under the direction of Mr. Mujahid, and learned about the clearing and collection functions of the banking sector. That how cheques of other banks are sent for clearing, who perform this function etc.  Here I learned how actually the A/C’s are actually reconciled and clearing is done.

Then for the next two weeks I worked in Foreign Exchange dept. with Jalal Khan where I learned the procedure of L/C’s, Inward and out remittances,  Foreign Currency Accounts opening and working and something about Foreign trade and many more. He also helped me a lot to learn the basic facts about the banking operations.

The Remaining part of my internship I spent with Mr.Saeed Tahir in the Advances/Credit department, where I learned how the credit proposal is being made, how the loans are being approved and recovered.

The organization is listed on all the NGO’s in Pakistan. HN TPO provided quality health services in the affected area with responsibility and to be the best place to work. With his network and a team of dedicated services.

I was honored to work HN TPO where I found the staff very cooperative in many respects. I did my internship in the HRM department of the organization. Where I learned the methodology of how to behave with community which is said to be as a contractual relationship between me as an employer and community.

 I got the opportunity to get familiar with different kinds of people. I was given certain projects which I accomplished successfully.

I am very thankful of all the employees who give me correct information about my internship.
